Our Artist Spotlight blogs are a weekly feature where we focus on one of our performers, giving you the chance to find out more about the people behind the performances, and offering an insight into the world of entertainment.

Since I was little I was always interested in drama and performing and I strongly felt it was something I could see myself eventually doing when I was older. I absolutely love entertaining people and the feeling you get after you have performed is euphoric! With Captain Jack it was merely a Halloween costume many years ago and I was getting various comments saying how alike I was to the famous pirate, I guess that’s what propelled me to try and make a living as a Captain Jack Sparrow lookalike.

As a teenager I attended a theatre school in Glasgow and studied drama in high school which helped me grasp the concept of getting into character and developed a knack for doing voices and imitating famous people. To be perfectly honest the best training for me impersonating Captain Jack was watching the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

My favourite thing about performing has got to be the reactions from the public! You know you are doing it right when you see a member of the public having to do a double take because of the way you look and act.

The best piece of advice I would offer to anyone who wants to get into the lookalike industry is have an absolute ball! It doesn’t feel like a job but still always be professional.

The best event I did for Contraband have to be when I gate crashed a Caribbean themed corporate party down in Middlesbrough. I had to barge in when the CEO of the company was making his speech and effectively grab the microphone off him and make a speech virtually commandeering the party.
“My main inspiration for my act has got to be Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean films! I think he possesses the personality and care free attitude that most people would want in life”
In all honesty, I don’t think there is anything I would change about the events industry, all jobs have ups and downs and not everything is going to be to everyone’s liking.
“As long as I can still do what I do and enjoy it to my fullest then I wouldn’t change anything”
My plans for the future would potentially be to go international with my act, I have made various contacts across the globe and hope to one day travel to some of these places and do my thing.
