Our Artist Spotlight blogs are a weekly feature where we focus on one of our performers, giving you the chance to find out more about the people behind the performances, and offering an insight into the world of entertainment.
Since I was little I was always interested in drama and performing and I strongly felt it was something I could see myself eventually doing when I was older. I absolutely love entertaining people and the feeling you get after you have performed is euphoric! With Captain Jack it was merely a Halloween costume many years ago and I was getting various comments saying how alike I was to the famous pirate, I guess that’s what propelled me to try and make a living as a Captain Jack Sparrow lookalike.
As a teenager I attended a theatre school in Glasgow and studied drama in high school which helped me grasp the concept of getting into character and developed a knack for doing voices and imitating famous people. To be perfectly honest the best training for me impersonating Captain Jack was watching the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
My favourite thing about performing has got to be the reactions from the public! You know you are doing it right when you see a member of the public having to do a double take because of the way you look and act.
The best piece of advice I would offer to anyone who wants to get into the lookalike industry is have an absolute ball! It doesn’t feel like a job but still always be professional.
