Funeral for a Friend are a post-hardcore rock band, who formed in Bridgend, Wales, in the year 2001. The group had started their career with “Between Order and Model”, their debut EP, and became recognized internationally in 2003 just after their second one, “Four Ways to Scream Your Name”, which was officially introduced to the British public in 2002. The same year the band had won their first Kerrang! Award for the Best UK Newcomer, and released their first full-length studio album soon after.
The Funeral for a Friend style of music definitely cannot be described in short, as they have been combining genres as varied as post-hardcore, emo, electro, screamo, melodic hardcore, heavy metal. What can easily be observed is that Funeral for a Friend have been singing much lighter and less aggressive music with each of their progressing albums. When speaking about the artists that influenced their style, the members mention famous bands such as Deftones, Iron Maiden, and The Get Up Kids. So its no wonder they are so diverse. Their latest album Chapter & Verse that released in January 2015, is one of the most hard-hitting albums in the band’s catalogue.
Funeral for a Friend already have seven studio albums and are extensively touring in Europe and the USA.
