One type of corporate event that is gaining more and more attention is the type that focuses on building teamwork. Companies are realizing that it takes a team spirit in order to get the job done right and, in order to achieve this spirit, employees need to learn more about their own personal strengths and weaknesses as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the other employees. Once these strengths and weaknesses are better understood, they can learn to work around them and how to bring out their strengths and overcome their weaknesses.
Corporate events that focus on team building generally include playing games and doing activities that involve using problem solving strategies and that require each member of the team to be accomplished. In this way, the team members learn to rely on one another and not to let one member “fall behind.” After completing the activities, all of the teams come back together with the facilitator in order to discuss the activity. This discussion focuses on the discussing the obstacles the team faced and how those obstacles were overcome.
Teambuilding corporate events are also nicely paired with motivational speakers or other performers that can help to further get your employees pumped up and ready to work together for the good of the company. At the same time, if you plan to host a teambuilding retreat for your employees, it is nice to add some levity to the event as well. Otherwise, your employees may become bogged down or overwhelmed from information overload.
To help your employees loosen up a little, you might want to consider hiring a comedian for the evenings or a DJ to provide dance music. In this way, during the down time that follows the teambuilding exercises, your employees will be more likely to stay together rather than seek entertainment elsewhere. This time spent together will further help improve the sense of team you are trying to instill.
