Contraband Painting the Bigger Picture
On the 3rd of September 2006, Regent Street came alive
to the sound of Regent Street came alive to the sound
of castanets and the smell of paella this summer, as
the annual Spanish Festival hit London.
Contraband Events worked on behalf of Bocados de Communicacion
S.L to bring the essence of Madrid to Regent Street
in an unusual manner.
Iconic Spanish paintings were recreated using actors
wearing amazing period costumes. Crowds of people were
mesmerised and amused by the `living paintings’
as the actors posed for photos and interacted with
shoppers.

Other Spanish icons also came alive, as Contraband
provided body statues or famous Spaniards of the past.

The statue of La Cibeles (top left) was recreated
using Contraband’s excellent body statue, Philippa
(above and left).

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra was recreated by Contraband’s
excellent actor, Nick, who provided walkabout entertainment
by interacting with the crowds and posing for photos
whilst keeping in character.
In
keeping with the artistic theme, Contraband also provided
two caricaturists who drew pictures of the crowds.
Contraband also supplied four stunning Spanish speaking
promotional ladies who informed customers about the
event.
