Face Painting Tips

Having face painters at your event will be sure to make it a hit, particularly if you will have children present. This form of entertainment is one that nearly every child – and even many adults – adore.  In order to get the best results, it is best to hire a professional face painter.  If you are thinking about doing the painting on your own, however, there are a few tips you should follow.

First, be sure to purchase professional face paint.  Otherwise, you can be putting your guests’ health at risk.  These paints can be expensive, so keep a close eye on them so no one can get a hold of them and use them on their own.  Other tips include:

  • If you will be covering the person’s entire face, it is better to sponge on the paint rather than brush it on.  This will save some paint and will get the job done faster.\
  • Bring a sponge and a brush. for each color of paint.  That way, you don’t have to rinse them out each time you need to change colors while painting.
  • Apply thin layers of paint so it can dry more quickly; make sure the paint is dry before adding a second layer.
  • Know what you plan to paint before you get started.
  • Special effects can be tricky, but keep in mind that the paint can work like a glue.  As such, you can soak some wool in paint and place it on the person’s face, cover it with tissue, and paint to make bumps and big eyebrows.  Puffed rice can be covered with tissue and painted over to make warts.
  • Use stencils if you aren’t confident in your artistic abilities

Hiring professional face painters for entertainment will help free you up and guarantee great results.  If that is not possible, theses tips will help make your face painting job a little bit easier.
