The Great British Bake Off 2016 starts again this year on Wednesday 24 August 2016, BBC One at 8pm. It was one of the most watched shows of 2015 with more than 15 million viewers tuning in for the final episode – the highest ratings the BBC has had since the World Cup Final last year! The demand for food themed entertainment has steadily grown over the last decade alongside the demand for a high quality experiential entertainment. Here at Contraband we have witnessed the growing popularity for booking a celebrity chef for corporate entertainment and private events first hand and have developed close relationships over the years working with the representatives of the chefs on our roster as their preferred booking agent. Available for you to book through Contraband are The Great British Bake Offs very own Paul Hollywood and Chetna Makan.
Paul Hollywood is again judging the contestants alongside Mary Berry. Interestingly Paul originally trained as a sculptor before being persuaded to join the family bakery business by his father. He went on to become one of the country’s finest artisan bakers following an illustrious career for some of the most exclusive hotels and restaurants including Cliveden House, The Chester Grosvenor and The Dorchester.
Much like Paul, Chetna Makan – 2015 semi-finalist and also on the Contraband roster – trained in a different artistic profession before moving over to bakery. Before coming to the UK Chetna was a fashion designer and, like Paul, has a great creative flair which has influenced and been translated into her baking. Chetna is also available to book via Contraband and offers masterclasses and demos and would be a fantastic addition to your event.
Unusual and cross disciplinary skills applied to creating food have contributed to the success of Paul Hollywood and Chetna Makan’s careers and is a trend that runs through the revitalisation of the food industry in general and makes for the most appealing and cutting edge food entertainment.
